News - Tornadoes

A particularly intense thunderstorm raged over Denver late last evening, with a possible tornado over Englewood and Castle Rock. Verne Carlson was on the scene once again with live video in west Denver, where he documented 1' hail drifts, shredded vegetation, downed powerlines, windows blown out of vehicles, large trees uprooted and some structural damage!

I saw that late tornado warning and was like...what??!
Wow! Nice pics. That little cell packed a serious punch. I was a little surprised at how long most of the discreet cells remained so for such a long time. I don't think many chasers expected it either, as there weren't many active streamers from any of the sites. Wish I could have been out.

Keep up the great work, Verne!

My parents live in Wheat Ridge, CO. My dad took a bunch of pics. I posted them somewhere else in a comment...I'm new, I don't know where to post! But they say that it was a supercell in Wheat Ridge, there was some major damage. I have some pics from photobucket that I'll post, again, in here! There was a TON of damage done on just my parents street alone. One street, maybe 3 or 4 blocks long is where the pictures were taken. If you don't have a photobucket acct its real easy to get one, and free, please look at the pics. My parents said the storm was amazing, we've never had anything like this so close to the foothills in my 29 years of living here.

Looks similar to some of the damage done by the storm cells we got hit with in the Phoenix area. Severe damage was done in the surronding area's of Chandler and Gilbert. A lightening strike caused the explosion of a large tree, as well as the blowing out of a nearby homeowners window. A local news crew that was setting up in the area did receive an electrical shock through their equipment as a direct result. Storm cells are expected to remain in the area for the remainder of the week putting to an end the heat advisory that has been in effect for the last 2 weeks.

My parents live in Wheat Ridge,CO where their saying it was the supercell, the damage around they're house was crazy! If I knew how to add pics I would! In my 29 years of living in western CO I've never seen anything like it. We always thought that so close to the foothills we could never have something like that storm! Amazing!
