Severe thunderstorms have developed over extreme southwest Nebraska into western Kansas, one of which is tornado warned and exhibiting signs of strong rotation on radar! While the storms that have fired have remained mostly discrete to this point, the expectation is that they will merge into a cluster then eventually an MCS, bringing the threat for an extreme wind event over portions of central Kansas later this evening. Mike Scantlin is currently streaming from southern Kansas, so be sure to check out the LIVE video tab to follow along!

Tornado Watch issued for parts of Kansas and Nebraska!

This was a terrible storm. My aunt lives in Wheatridge and she had almost a foot of hail in her yard after the storm and lost absolutely everything in her yard. Her house was damaged quite badly as well.

Very sorry to read that, RedDawg.

We tend to forget that aside from tornadoes, severe T-Storms can mess up lives/homes as well.
I hope your Aunt has plenty of folks to help her out during the storm recovery.

For anyone who knows:
I was worrying over crops last evening as I watched radar on the storms in NE heading into KS. StormChaserSteve said that the wheat was in, but, being unfamiliar with crops in the western plains, I don't know if there is also corn grown there as well?
I know it may sound odd that I fret over plants, but these equal people's blood, sweat and tears. Having an entire crop destroyed in minutes can be devastating.
