Dick McGowan and Darin Brunin chased with TVN yesterday and got these dramatic shots of the crew in action. [Photos not for use without license.] As mentioned in the last update, the SRV lost the driver's side window, which resulted in some minor injuries to those onboard; hence the blood streaming down Reed's face! The SRV has Lexan windows but must be manually rolled up, and unfortunately there was little time to do so during this particular intercept yesterday -- one of FOUR on the day!

Check out more of Dick and Darin's work at http://www.tornadolive.com/ and http://www.stackedplates.blogspot.com/

Also, below is new footage of the tornado southwest of Aurora, NE from meteorologist/storm chaser Jeff Snyder, who is one of the TVN live streamers! AMAZING footage from Jeff as well! Click the "READ MORE" tab to watch!

Today holds the potential for a tornado outbreak across the prairies of Minnesota, Iowa and points south and east. EXTREME instability will be in place along with strong deep layer shear, so storms that fire will be capable of significant tornadoes. A MODERATE RISK is in place at this time, but an upgrade to HIGH RISK could be eminent this afternoon once confidence in the convective mode is established. Chasers will be out again today, so as always, be sure to follow along on the Live Video tab. This is a dangerous weather situation for persons in the risk areas, so be sure to follow the latest watches and warnings!

THE POSTER TEXT SHOULD READ "THE TORNADO MADE ME DO IT"
THEN HE SHOULD AUTOGRAPH IT AND SEND US ALL ONE WHO IS REGISTERED HERE, OR BETTER YET SELL THEM FOR A FEW BUCKS APIECE TO PUT INTO A FUND FOR THOSE EXTRA THICK POWER SAFETY GLASS WINDOWS AND GOGGLES TO WEAR OUT IN TORMADIC SITUATIONS. SAFETY FIRST FROM THIS MOM.
(REEDS MOTHER MUST HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESURE WITH ALL THE WORRYING SHE MUST DO)

 OH MY GOODNESS!!! I'm so glad that ya'll are still in relatively one piece! How bad were the injuries? Hard to tell if Reed needed stitches or not. In conjunction with Dutch, I am a paramedic as well in Texas, and will offer my services as well. :sigh: It's amazing, the things we put our lives on the line for....the things we love. I pray that all of the TVN chasers stay safe and keep up the good work! Be careful there guys, as I'm a little far away at the moment to patch ya'll up! :D  :P

Oh come on that blood is photoshopped!!! Couldn't resist the sarcasm and obviously just kidding before I get killed here, and hope you are all patched up and doing well.

All I can say is holy god man are you guys getting "insane-er" by the minute. I feel like every shot or video I watch, the level of intensity rises tenfold. As much as I hit F5 hoping for new footage each minute on here, please don't get yourselves killed out there just for the masses viewing pleasure. I honestly can't wait to see the rest of the footage, especially from the SRV, and I truly can't wait for how Discovery will add such drama to the narration of yesterdays chase when they air it in the fall.

I FIND YOUR LIVE FEEDS A GREAT WAY TO PASS THE TIME AS I RECOVER FROM KNEE SURGERY.

-1 #17 ebru1331 2009-06-18 12:02
WHAT WAS THE PIECE OF HARD DIAMOND LIKE MATERIAL YOU GUYS HELD UP A WILE AGO ON THE LIVE FEED? WHY DO YOU KEEP TYPING HELP ONTO YOUR LIVE FEED, AND REED, IS YOUR FACE OK? MY 4 YEAR OLD IS CONVINCED YOU GOT SUCKED UP BY A TORNADO. SINCE HE DOES NOT RECOGONISE YOU IN THE SUNGLASSES MAYBE IN A WHILE WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF HE WILL FEEL BETTER TO SEE YOU ALIVE AND WELL AGAIN. HE WANTED TO BE A STORM CHASER WHEN HE GROWS UP BUT NOW SAYS HE WILL CHASE THE LIGHTNING FROM THE HOUSE. GOOD THING WE HAVE A MOBILE HOME, LOL...

What the heck is going on...

-1 #19 Stormchaser 2009-06-18 12:36
Yeah today looks like a day off for chasers and not a moderate risk day.Well the day is not over and things might pop up but today really wasn't day to chase as it looks like not that i want any severe weather for residents.Good luck to all though and great chasing yesterday with awesome pictures and videos.Bye

-1 #20 MDH 2009-06-18 12:50
It still looks like tomorrow should yield something around michigan, indiana, ontario, ohio, etc... So they`re not in a bad place.

2009 has struck again!

+2 #21 crazyhorse2002 2009-06-18 12:50
after yesterday they needed a day off, that was one close call they had, in the photo Reed looked like he was in shock. I hope people will let them recover and stop complaing about shaky video and all that.

+2 #22 Stormchaser 2009-06-18 12:53
@crazyhorsse2002 I agree in all with you and yes i hope tomorrow will be a better day for chasing.

Quoting ebru1331:
WHAT WAS THE PIECE OF HARD DIAMOND LIKE MATERIAL YOU GUYS HELD UP A WILE AGO ON THE LIVE FEED? WHY DO YOU KEEP TYPING HELP ONTO YOUR LIVE FEED...

Chris held up some glass from the window that exploded all over everyone last night. He was also not comfortable riding next to Reed while he was "dressed" in such a manner. Hence the "Help." ;-)

Oh, and today is what's called an epic BUST in technical weather language.

-1 #24 mandrie1981 2009-06-18 14:24
Here we are, with dew points in the 70's, and nothing has popped up yet???? This isn't making sense to me. Are we going to end up with late night sever weather here in south central Minnesota? All conditions are right, but the sun is down now.

+2 #25 MDH 2009-06-18 15:08
Yes. It`s a night event. There`s already a storm with a hook on radar. It`s looking quite beautiful. TV.N isn`t streaming anything I can see at the moment but chasertv and severestudios are.

Night time events will probably end up being much more interesting on discovery`s storm chasers this fall. Much more high action and suspense with no way to see the tornado except through lightning flashes.
