Storm chasers who targeted south-central Nebraska were treated to the best chase day of the year to date, as multiple highly-visible, highly-photogenic tornadoes occurred in the area. TVN had an INSANE day! The RC Super Hauler successfully deployed 5 probes into two different tornadoes, while the SRV made FOUR (4) intercepts... including one that resulted in a blown out window and bloody faces for everyone onboard! (MORE DETAILS TO COME!) Stream Thunder captured dramatic footage of multiple tornadoes near Grand Island and Aurora - cluck READ MORE to see their INCREDIBLE video!; other chasers' footage is still to come, so check back for updates!!!

Re:INCREDIBLE tornado day in southeast Nebraska! June 17, 2009!
Jun 19 2009 16:17:54 gasorg,
I didn't notice any particular sound on the first tornado (other than the rushing sound during the time they were moving in the vehicle), but the last tornado sure has an eerie howling whistling sound to it, and under that sound is the 'waterfall' sound I've heard described too. ~Jo~ |

I hear a definite sustained "whooshing" sound. |

Re:INCREDIBLE tornado day in southeast Nebraska! June 17, 2009!
Jun 19 2009 16:48:20 K. I shall return after listening another time...
Edit: Back...Okay. My mistake. That's the tornado I was hearing as well. For some reason I thought it was the later. You're right, gas. And isn't that an eerie sound? Otherworldly, hollow, echo-y, whistlely, whooshing...no wonder people have trouble describing the sound of the things. ~Jo~ |

Mordrik, I actually GOT your point...what I have a problem with is the "holier than thou" attitude that comes across.
Since you're the one with the video degree from OSU why don't you take a tour, put your skills to work, & show us how it should be done so we can deicde if you're correct in your constructive criticism.
Some storm chasers are meteorologists, not just videographers. They collect data on the storms & a video camera is just one of the tools used to capture data.
I agree with Tammy (txvegas8ball) & until you put your life on the line to capture the beauty & the fury of mother nature, give these guys a break. I appreciate whatever footage they get & share with the rest of us.
May God Bless & Keep Them Safe!
"Holy $@#*!"
They need to mature as videographers. You cheerleaders don't offer much except "way to go"..."awesome"..."bless you" tripe. I offer them a sincer challenge. In addition, I have better ways to spend $2000 than to hook up with an Okie Tornado Safari. No thanks. Sunny and 78 degrees in beautiful California. Yalp.
