Above are a couple of screen captures from the tornado streamed by David Drummond and Ben Holcomb at about 6:15 PM; below is the base reflectivity radar presentation from the same time. The tornado was located near Cedar Hill, TX, and the responsible supercell continues to look very impressive on radar. Several teams of chasers are on the storm right now, including TVN, so be sure to check back often for more updates, and later, video! 04.29.09.drummondholcombcell

UPDATE: I talked to Ben and he says there were TWO tornadoes, one on either side of them, and that they were less than 100 yards away!!

Verne Carlson is also streaming from Garden City, KS and has had some INSANE hail footage; his storm is currently tornado warned!

UPDATE!: Verne Carlson just streamed a HUGE landspout with multiple vortices (~7:40PM)

TVN Myspace is reporting that they've intercepted 2 tornadoes NE of Lubbock.
Idk, who runs the TVN myspace though, so it could have been anyone who posted that lol.

I saw Drummond/Holcomb as towers were going up, then checked back later and was suprised to see the tornadoes! I thought they were pretty close, I cringed after I saw the road conditions + other chasers hopelessly stuck. Here I am making an armchair chase report LOL... Well hopefully storms could be a little more north around the 10th of may.

Verne is streaming multiple landspouts right now. He thinks there might be a large tornado hidden in the rain behind the landspouts but it is much safer out in front. He also has some damage to his vehicle from the large hail!

Great day
Had 2 windows open simultaneously as that tornado in TX was chasing Ben, and Verne had rainbows, big hail, and something that looked huge, on the ground.
Beats the hell out of the networks.

I cannot believe the SPC has not recognized the Drummond tornado on 4-29 tornado reports as of this post... Did anyone call this tornado in to the NWS?

Again... Great job on the streaming TVN Team...

Drummond and Carlson.. You guys ruled today.. Best of cheers to the both of you...

Hey JC!
Yeah, I was just wondering the same thing. I'm gonna my friends at the NWS and ask about that.

Thanks for keeping us updated on all this Heidi!! :)

Are you sure that's a landspout?? Not denieing it but That looks like a prety insaine supercell with a meso!!! Landspouts are caused by rapidly intensifying up drafts in a regular thunderstorm

Wow excellent Heidi,i was watching the David drummond cam tonight ,and stuck with it,and saw this Tornado also...it was a wicked stream, but fantastic that you caught it,and saved the screen...ive been studying the pics, and i thought i saw it , but had to check again:)...I noticed David seem to have a bit of bother with the Dirt roads tonight...and i think they even had to help another vehicle which went of the Road or got stuck down a ditch....hehe,an eventfull chase no doubt ...Just 1 thing plz use ur windshield wipers more often David:)Nah keep up the gd work guys and thanks for capturing that pics from I Map tonight heidi,i really did need a second look at that.....Thanks all,,,really great night on the live stream. TVN Rocks!

We couldn't use the wipers later because one of them blew off when we were running to get in front of the tornado.

I have a couple pics of David setting with a front row seat for the tornado (pretty sure it was your van in the pic). I would been in the perfect place to stream as it first came down, but I was having major issue with my camera power off today (cant have a tape in the camera or it wants to turn off all the time). Once the tornado cam down I forgot all about the stream as I was kinda worried about becoming debris. Also if Reed didn't take a direct hit today, I will be shocked. He was in perfect position to intercept. The SRV was covered in mud when I saw it a few minutes later.

TIV ended up in a ditch this evening. The support vehicle was in the ditch right behind it. Needless to say I didnt try and go down that road.

Nice work David, always been a fan of your streaming. I`m kicking myself that I didn't stay up that extra 30 minutes to watch it happen. But I`m sure you guys managed to get some video which I am excited to see. Nice job.
