An outflow boundary from this morning's Mesoscale Convective System has helped re-initiate thunderstorms between Abilene and Lubbock, TX. The environment there is highly unstable, with CAPE values expected to reach ~3,000 J/kg this afternoon. Supercells that fire are likely to be long-lasting and may persist well into the evening, with very large hail and tornadoes possible with any storm. TVN's own Reed Timmer is shown below preparing to deploy to the area; they are currently en route and will be checking in as updates become available!

Re:Tornadoes possible in northwest Texas!
Apr 29 2009 19:58:58 Sure Ya'll get to have the fun action...we're flooding out here on the Red River...over 5 inches of rain...and its all training...local predictions is that Lake Texoma will rise at anywhere from 5-10 feet within the next 3 days ( at the least).
Also regarding the earlier reports on the children on Healdton, OK..injuries were minor, just mostly cuts from broken windows at school from winds est. anywhere from 65-80 mph. Severe flooding in that same area, which is near Lone Grove, (EF4 2-10-2009), area also recently had windfires which burned a lot of vegetation. Stay Safe out there guys! |
