As expected, a severe weather outbreak is underway across parts of the southern Plains, as supercell thunderstorms have exploded across the length of the current tornado watch box. The majority of chasers have positioned themselves along the OK/TX panhandle border in anticipation of the highly-sheared environment that will come into play in a few hours. Chad Cowan (whose icon on our Live Tracker is ChaseTheStorms) played the northern target and is currently in eastern Kansas chasing the monster storm shown above on reflectivity! Stay tuned for updates as they become available!

UPDATE: Check out this HUGE HAIL that ExtremeTornadoTours came across near Elk City, OK!! 04.15.09.hail.holder

That's some massive hail! I'm definitely looking forward to Storm Chasers season 3. Hopefully the storms will pick up this season, and I'll see some action around this area.

Boeing is going to have a heart attack when they see what TVN is bringing them! I definitely want to see photos of the TRV after all the hail encounters to see how it held up..from the video it looks all sweet! and it's still mobile...

Yes and we all should be so fortunate that we get a show like Storm Chasers so we can see this! I can't wait for October!
