VIDEO POSTED ABOVE!!!

Details are still coming in, but Extreme Tornado Tours intercepted a large tornado about 40 minutes ago northwest of Dodge City!  Matt Van Every and Dave Holder led 4 quests to a cyclic tornadic supercell that caused damage near Kalvesta, KS this afternoon.  Extreme Tornado Tours obsevered 2-3 tornadoes on the ground at the same time, with up to 6 inches of hail covering the roads.

Random note:

I saw this video on the news here in SE Minnesota this evening while visiting my Grandma. It took me a second to realize what it was, but as soon as I did, I yelled out "Hey! That's... that's TVN! Awesome!" And then, of course, I had to explain to Grandma what "a TVN" is, lol.

I seen the one by Kalvesta,Ks. Right now I'm in a tornado watch, with a high probability of spotter activation (which means me).

Hey all.. I was in this storm.. I have at least 8 tornado sitings and 3 at very close range.. I was filming a large tornado on the ground when it went over a ranch house and demolished it.. There was debris raining all around me for many minutes.. Feel a bit shoked to see someones home just gone.

I have many stills of multiple close range tornadoes and was scary close to two of them.. I will post some of the stills on the SWS site as soon as I settle in later.. My nerves are just frayed attm.. This was one of the most amazing mesos I have witnessed in recent years.. I will never forget what I saw today.. I hope no one was in that house.. cheers I guess..

My heart and prayers go out ot the family of the destroyed ranch house. I hope everyone was in a safe place. I do love the chase, and watching these beautiful but ominous storms take shape. This is the one drawback. I can't wait to see the video. JC Surfs, take care and be safe, and the same to all the chasers out there. Tammy

I agree jc, it was pretty wild out there. I got some nice stills and video of 3 different twisters. I had debris falling on my truck I use for chasing. I got hit by a 2x4 and busted my windshield. I bet it was from that house that got flattened.

Thank god I got a 4-wheel drive cause I had to cut across a stubble field cause powerlines were down. I wasn't gonna lose sight of the tornado I was filming at the time. Good thing I know the guy who owns the field I cut across.

More on the INSANITY.. I just did an interview with the people that live(d) in the destroyed property.. They were OK. I did a couple of local news interviews, surveyed the damage, took vid and photos.. I need to get to a hotel to sort out the goods.. I have over an hour and a half of all 8 tornadoes. The structures being disinigrated, and some great footage of the meso right above me dropping.. I was doing electronic measurements with this scientific meter.. so I had to be real close.. It was an absolute success.. I have the data that I could only dream of getting to further the next step of what SWS is doing.. I was within 100 and 500 feet of the 2 really good tornadoes.. Really fullfilled on a successful chase day.. I will post more on our website as soon as some rest is realized. Hope everyone else chasing these meso's was safe as well..

Good thing this didn't happen out in the field, but I was on my was home and I heard a grinding and banging, I shelled out a u-joint on my front driveshaft. So I stopped on the side of the highway and pulled it out. It was an expensive day but well worth it.

Great video extreme tours.. I was on the other side.. high contrast on all touchdowns... I had no idea there was that much hail on the other side.. All of my siteings are high contrast at a scary close range.. Just went through the footage... AMAZING! I love KANSAS!! I will post the stills on the SWS site later tonite. Was anyone else out here? I saw only emergency spotters.. No chasers the whole time.. What a great day!! Like said in the video.. he was right.. I witnessed 3 tornadoes at one time on the ground.. A first for me... I guess dewpoints can be overrated by this meso fest

That was a good video, I ran into some hail but not as much as they showed on the video, so I assume I was on the same side as jc. who knows??? I never seen the tour van. I ran into more hail after I left Kalvesta area.

Hey Mates.. I put up a few stills of the event from my angle.. I still have a lot to sort through.. The link:

http://severewarningsystems.com/chase_4-16to20-09.html

The video of the ranch property destruction is jaw-dropping..

Also I still haven't sorted through the pics and vids after the meso crossed hwy 156.. Thats when the tornado really picked up in size and intensity. I continued to chase this on a really muddy dirt road. The contrast of the large tornado was phenomenal. From my location.. this was one of the most picturesque mesocyclones I have witnessed... I was up till almost 2 am downloading all the vid, and backing it up. I sure have some memories to bring back to California.. Amazing chase mates.. This mate is in AAAHH !!

Just posted the video:
