Dangerous weather appears to be inevitable today as a dynamic, intense weather system unleashes its force over the south-central United States. Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama will likely see the brunt of the severe weather, as incredible wind profiles suggest strong to violent tornadoes are possible throughout the day. Residents of these areas are URGED to have a severe weather plan in place, know where to go for shelter and respond to warnings accordingly. There will likely be multiple rounds of storms for many of these areas, so it is also important for residents to remain alert even after the first or second wave. Reed, Joel and Chris are currently set up in west-central Mississippi, with Jim Walker headed west through Alabama toward a tornado-warned cell on state line. Their streams can be viewed on the Live tab, above.
Also, below is the latest video from the Texas Panhandle tornado day - amazing footage by TVN live streamer Mike Parker!
Looks like Reed and crew managed to intercept the violent wedge that hit Yazoo City, MS.
Reports are that there is significant damage with 20-30 homes destroyed. Initial reports from storm chasers have rated the damage in the EF-4 range. Judging by the images coming in on the live stream, I would not be surprised if that is the case. We won't know for sure until official NWS damage survey teams make an assessment.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this storm.
