12.02.09.wwTornado watches are currently in effect from the southern Delmarva Peninsula all the way to central Florida as a robust storm system sweeps across the eastern Atlantic coast states. A PDS tornado watch is also in effect for eastern North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. PDS stands for Particularly Dangerous Situation, and the weather service issues PDS watch boxes to increase awareness when there is as expecially heightened threat severe weather. As the atmosphere continues to destabilize overnight in the eastern Carolinas in the presence of strong wind shear, strong tornadoes are possible, so persons in this area should definitely take all necessary precautions, freshen the batteries in your NOAA weather radios, etc., as nighttime tornadoes are especially dangerous.

I was in that crap last night, or at least on the far western edge here in Raleigh. It was not too bad here. Most of the tornadic activity stayed offshore. There were several wind damage reports and one possible tornado inside the PDS watch.

SPC was DEFINITELY playing it safe last night.

I live in Southern NJ, just outside Philadelphia. It was quite stormy last night. Had very heavy rain last night, followed by strong winds in the middle of the night around 3:00am, gusts had to be near 50MPH if not higher. Was near 60 today, but actually have a chance to see snow showers on Saturday.

i almost considered going to school in southern md, st' mary's. they always get hit. i lost count of how many sirens there were. only thing i've experienced in md was the june 4 '08 storm during that week long outbreak.
