An upper-level low pressure system has brought a very rare snow storm to the Gulf Coast, including the Houston, TX area. The heaviest snow will fall from Southeast Texas, northeast through Central Mississippi where 10 tornadoes were reported yesterday! 3-5 inches of snow will cover the damage paths of these tornadoes by tomorrow, ending by tomorrow night. Here is a regional radar loop of the Central Gulf Coast from around 06z Thursday, showing moderate to heavy snow from Houston northeastward to the TX/LA border. Winter storm warnings are in effect for central Mississippi, where the heaviest snow will fall, with winter weather advisories to the west. This same upper-level low will develop into a strong Nor'Easter as it encounters the intense temperature gradient on the western edge of the Gulf Stream. There could be over a foot in New England starting in the next few days! ![]() Here are pictures of several inches of snow in Baytown, TX Brittany Hoover during heavy snow Wednesday evening: ![]() ![]()
