News - Snow

A textbook single band lake effect event has been pounding areas downwind of Lake Ontario this evening, with 3-4 inch per hour snowfall rates over northern Oswego, southern Jefferson, and Lewis Counties.

This band lifted north earlier today ahead of a subtle shortwave, but will drift south across Oswego into northeastern Wayne Counties as the night progresses, and winds shift to a more WNW-ly direction.

I would not be surprised is 2-3 feet of snow fall in the hardest hit areas, especially over the higher elevations of the Tug Hill Plateau. The GFS is showing a potential severe weather event over the Southern Plains next weekend... It's way out but something to look forward to nonetheless!
