Yet another major snowstorm is taking aim on the Washington, DC area! An astounding 10-20" of snow is possible again by tomorrow evening, over the same region that saw between 24-40" over the weekend! Considering the possibility for substantially higher local amounts once again (as was the case with "round 1") it is possible that some areas may have 5-6 FEET of snow on the ground by mid-week! This will obviously cause insane travel and snow-removal complications, as the area was barely able to cope with the snow from the weekend, as evidenced by the video from TVN's John Esterheld! Stay tuned for updates from Snowmageddon 2010 -- Round 2!
I live in Frederick County MD and school has been canceled for the rest of the week. We are allotted 5 weather days and this will make 9. As it is spring break is shortened and two days have been added onto the end of the school year. This had better be it for snow.
Used up 5 of our school days and used 6 2hr late starts so far this winter. Not sure what the school will do, keep telling my 13 year old he might be out of school by 4th of July the way this winter is going.
Whats really bad about the storms out East, What will happen when it all melts. Going to be record floods to follow the record snows.
Just in the last 20 minutes it has gotten very bad here. We are under a Blizzard Warning and there are times we cannot see outside. Just found out that visibility is down to 1/4 of a mile.
It's hard to belive another snow storm is going hit the east. I wonder how many weather records these storms are causing.
Yesterday we got about 10" to 13" here in WI, but nothing like the East has. The last time WI had weather like the East was about 30 years ago. I only remember that because when I was a child the snowbanks were so high, I could walk on the top of the high fence in our yard. That was a very high fence. I wish for everyone in the East good luck for now and I hope the 2nd one coming won't be as bad as the first one.
I just posted a video that I took. The wind was blowing so hard that snow was actually blown into the house as I took the video. It is posted under Winter Wx.
Last Saturday's snow was much easier to shovel, nice fluffy snow. Today, this stuff is really heavy and wet. UGH!!! Over a foot so far, still coming down at 2 inches per hour this evening. Philadelphia broke their record for snowiest winter today.
