After yesterday's dangerous freezing rain, sleet and snow event in Oklahoma and west Texas, the massive winter storm system continues today, with winter storm warnings in place from Texas to coastal Virginia. Eastern Oklahoma and the northern half of Arkansas into west Tennessee and northern Mississippi are currently receiving the majority of the precip. Moderate to heavy sleet and some freezing rain have been falling in central AR and is likely in the Memphis area into northern MS, which will cause substantial travel problems today and into the weekend, but places to the north and west have been experiencing snow since the overnight-hours, including the areas of Oklahoma that received all the freezing rain and sleet yesterday. Several inches of snow is expected today across OK, with heavier amounts near the AR border -- northern AR could see over 12" of snow in some areas! We will continue to update throughout the event - below is video from Reed and Chris yesterday afternoon as they got out in the freezing rain and sleet in Norman.

If you read this and to others, we here in New England know what your going through. In 2008 we experienced the same type of storm. Check out this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4393e83a0cda3e69e5c3dee5769931ecd0efe8de8f33833ea601da0f25e869f4
This link has a long version and a short version of the storm of 2008 done by Jim Palmer KB1KQW. He is the Northshore Skywarn coordinator. He also made a presentation on the ice storm at the Southern New England Weather Conference that both Reed and Chris were present.
And thanks for explaining the Skew-T! I'm trying to learn how to read them!
We had just over 3 inches of snow before the freezing rain/sleet hit. The freezing rain turned to rain for a bit and that melted some of our snow. Needless to say, north Georgia is not used to this weather, but I loved it!
