News - Snow

A cold 1036mb high pressure system has settled into the middle part of the United States, bringing with it some of the coldest air that the lower 48 has seen in years! Dangerously cold temperatures have been responsible for a number of fatalities across dozens of states. It is very important to remember that this kind of cold weather can be a serious, life-threatning event! Ridiculously cold wind chill temperatures were measured last night, especially in the northern Plains, where temperatures plummeted past -50 degrees Farenheit! Tonight's temperatures are expected to be similar if not worse in many locations. The good news is we expect to see a slight warmup at the beginning of next week.

dPeople living in Europe have also been experiencing similar conditions, as snow and cold are creating all sorts of issues across the continent. In England, transportation has been stifled, schools have been closing, and even soccer matches have been cancelled! In central Europe, citizens are preparing for blizzard conditions to arrive within the next day. Stay warm everybody!

Places as far south as Orlando, FL could see sleet and even snow flurries tonight and into tomorrow morning. Sarah and I (of the Warmsector team) might even stream some of it, if it is visible enough. I've only seen snow fall here twice in the past 20 years, and Orlando is about 90 miles south of us.

I found the frozen UK photo on MSNBC's site, among over 70 others. Many of the photos are from the UK, a few are from the US and Europe. Here is the link. Enjoy! :-)

Seems like the brunt of this is missing the northeast right now, at least where I am near Philadelphia. High temperaturs here will still be in the mid and upper 20's. Sorry folks in the MidWest!! :D Looking on the weather right now, snow, ice, and rain coming down in Orlando, FL!!!!

Yeah, we've been watching mostly sleet and some flurries from just north of Orlando up to Ocala, FL. We're streaming it just because it's somewhat historic for this area, but it's not nearly as pretty as up north with snow accumulations and all. Driving is a bit dicey for Floridians. They're not at all accustomed to driving on any form of ice. I learned to drive in northern Oklahoma, so no problem for me.

Yeah, I've never seen anything like it, gonna snow later on tonight in Southern England, already adding to the 10 inches on the ground.

Temperatures have recovered somewhat in the UK from this very cold spell of weather. Falkirk Central Scotland, UK still has some patches of snow lying around. Saying that the arctic air is trying to move back in over the UK again this week brrr !
