Snow totals of 12-16" have been registered in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota as the intense winter storm pushes gradually east. Blizzard conditions are occurring throughout this same area, as northwest winds scream across the flat farmland at 30-40 MPH, with higher gusts! Needless to say, drifting snow is going to be a substantial problem. Below are some photos from Curtis McDonald of stream Thunder, taken earlier from their location in northwest Missouri. Reed will be updating later on the event in Michigan -- he and Chris are currently streaming HUGE waves and snow squalls on Lake Michigan on the Live page!
We received about 18" of snow between 4pm on Tuesday and noon today. Temperatures were about 30F during the storm, so the snow that fell was wet and heavy. Fortunately, that should take the edge off of the ground blizzards this afternoon and evening.
