Severe thunderstorms threatening metro areas on east coast! PDF Print E-mail

A couple of especially intense thunderstorms are making their way dangerously close to some major metro areas right now, including a tornado warning for areas of central New Jersey -- the storm itself is moving directly toward New York City!! Farther south, a thunderstorm exhibiting some signs of rotation, with a history of producing very large hail, is northwest of the Washington, DC metro area moving toward Baltimore!
These storms are looking rather impressive on radar, so people in the path should definitely pay attention! Severe thunderstorm watches are currently in effect from Maine to North Carolina, as storms are expected to continue into the evening!

Rotation doesn't look too strong on radar on the NYC storm, but I guess none of that matters when you have a funnel cloud reported. If it holds together it looks like this thing is headed straight for Manhattan, NY.

I live a couple miles south of Ellicott City, MD and those storm clouds were Huge! The storm just missed us to the north, but we could hear the thunder from the storm and it was extremely dark off to the north. Cool sight though...

Heidi on Sat we had 2 tornados here in upstate NY one was ef-1 with a 4 mile track near Darrion Lake park and Corfu NY. The second was an ef-0 with a .75 mile track in Hilton NY. Both tornados came from the same cell.My buddy Jack was on the storm and has video of the funnels and many wall clouds it produced.
