Check out this insane video from the intense southern eyewall of Typhoon Molave on July 19, shot by James Reynolds of typhoonfury.com . James traveled to Tai Po of northern Hong Kong to intercept this strong category 1 typhoon. James travels throughout Southeast Asia to intercept powerful typhoons this time of year, and has intercepted powerful cyclones in places like Vietnam and Taiwan...We'll be keeping up with James on his many typhoon chasing adventures throughout the season!

Aug 01 2009 16:49:39 Thanks for the kind comments guys. Molave was a real surprise landing right on my doorstep early in the season.
Things are about to ramp up significantly in the Wpac over the next few weeks so I'm hoping to be able to shoot some seriously insane footage! Thanks for the support! |

Reminds me of my Florida Hurricanes here!
In studying his videos and the minimized damage that occurs in the west, we should observe and learn how to protect property in these events in a much better fashion. If you notice in his past videos... The electricity never goes down.. and the breakwall "gettys" that are in place really protect the coastal properties from serious destruction.
This type of "surge deterrence" need to be a strong consideration for the protection of populated Gulf Coast areas. If we ever get a tropical cyclone like Sinlaku, or Hagaput in the Gulf... The catastrophic consequences would be alarming.
US season so far.. West coast is ahead.. (3).. Atlantic.. (0)
