Don't forget to check out the Storm Chasers marathon on Discovery Channel today (Saturday) starting with the very first episode of season 1 at 11:00 am Eastern! The first four episodes feature Sean and the TIV during the record-breaking 2007 season, and we all know what happened last year. Of course this up-coming season will blow both of them out of the water! (airs starting this October). AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Also, Verne Carlson chased an INCREDIBLE long-lived supercell across multiple counties in eastern Colorado yesterday afternoon and into the evening, documenting amazing structure, huge rotating wall clouds, baseball-sized hail and dangerous straight-line winds. At one point his live video stream showed a rapidly rotating, low-hanging wall cloud, and looked as though a tornado was imminent. Radar presented a strong velocity couplet at the same time, but enormous amounts of dust being kicked up beneath the storm caused reduced visibility, so no tornado could be confirmed. Below are some photos Verne was able to grab last evening, showing wind damage to a utility pole, and a view of the back side of the anvil from near Las Animas, CO.
