Here is a sneak peek of some video you'll see on Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers this Fall!  This is from the May 13, 2009 Kirksville, MO tornado intercept from the northwest side of town.  The pattern looks to be finally becoming active, so stay tuned for more updates as TVN deploys the full ground and aerial field project this month!

Better yet, why not just point your vehicle so that it's facing away from the tornado and then "BACK UP!!!!!" into it!

never under estimate the power of "BACK UP!!! " lol. ive said that many a chase follwed by the term " Dale ....ur an idiot" lol. storm chasing is addictive and mesmerizing. like seeing the rocky mountains for the first time. you can see all the pics you like but when your up close and personal...you cant capture that with anything...other than screaming histarically " BACK UP!!" and the half hour adrenalin rush you try to come down from after lol.

I hope things pick up soon. It would be a shame that the Storm Chasers next series is going to be reduced to a 2 hours special.

I have to say audio would be good from the chase vehcile instead of audio from TVN.. and I'm curios what happened to that car when the actual circulation went across.. Avoid, It looks like things will be picking up over the next few days, but not as dramatic as a lot of us would hope for.. Has not been too good of a season for V2 so far, has it?

This won't play for me.

The video should be playable now; Discovery made a change to the first clip so that made the original link no-good. 8)

OK, Boys and Girls, it time for stupid questions from T-Baby, the rookie fan :P ... Was the audio & video shot from two different cameras in two different vehicles & then combined into this one video? It seemed like most of the video was from the "Follow" vehicle & then switched to Reed's vehicle at about 1:00. Course it stops just as things were really getting good.

Also, why did they stop & set-up UNDERNEATH power lines?? If those puppies fell wouldn't all of the equipment shorted out .. I don't EVEN want to think what could have happened to Reed and company! Any update on the data collected?

What happened to the "Follow" vehicle? Was everyone ok? Did they get footage from inside the tornado, too?

Soon I am going to have to find a SCA meeting to go to....that being a Storm Chasers Anonymous  This *%$# is addicting! :P  Y'all are in my prayers!

Whoever fixed the video THANKS  That was Bleepin AWSOME. I think TexarkanaBaby is right this is an addiction. I think they just combined the same Tornado from two different camera's. This video was really cool to me because you get to see what happens to them outside of Reeds vehicle  three words YOU GUYS ROCK 8)

Most of this was from the production vehicle; some of the video at the end may have been from the SRV though (can't tell for sure). The audio is, obviously, all from the SRV though. Pretty good tease for Storm Chasers, I'd say! ;)
