Monster supercells likely today across Northwest Texas! PDF Print E-mail

01may2009_capeEXTREME instability and a nice east-west oriented outflow/frontal boundary will set the stage for intense supercells later this afternoon across Northwest Texas.  There will be nice turning in the low-level flow throughout the day, but an intensifying low-level jet at evening will only intensify already sufficient wind shear for tornadoes.  Baseball to softball size hail will be common, but thankfully we don't have to worry about that in the SRV!  which makes all the armor worth it even if we weren't trying to get close to tornadoes.  We'll be heading southwest toward the Wichita Falls area shortly, with a target just west or southwest of there.  We'll have several chasers in the field streaming live video today, so be sure to check out the live tracker!   http://www.tornadovideos.net/full-screen-chaser-video.php

Okay.
I'll be the first one to admit it...
I'm confused by this thread. Actually, the article. It's for today, but it's Fri. night now, and these cells didn't hold together long.
Help me here if I'm missing something. Or, slap me - either way.

Dang,
I was watching the streams and had to jump offline to take cover for a Tornado warning here in Columbus Ohio. It came out of no where. No previous watches....Yikessss!

+4 #18 Heidi 2009-05-01 10:28
Ben just texted me saying they have a tornado; the stream has a little bit of lag right now. The data must not be good in that area.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, txvegas8ball, I can't get them to load/stream/play either. I'm in central Texas (Pfluggerville).

About 2 am this morning I finally got A stream working only to watch the chaser order food at a drive-thru! (Don't remember who it was but he was the only one streaming at that time of the morning!) I was so happy to get a connection I watched the stream as he ordered and got his food! I know, pretty sad, huh? But at least I had a working stream! :sigh:

Maybe the site is sooo popular it can only handle a certain number watching at one time....but then again David Drummond had 218 viewers when I started this comment so that doesn't seem to an issue.

I can see the pic if I click on still just no streaming video! ARGH!!!!

Heidi, Thanks for the suggestion but I've read all the FAQ's (twice even)and still no luck! I did update the flash player as suggested in the FAQ's but still have issues getting a live stream. I have a geat internet connection and on occassion can get a live stream but usually only late at night when hardly any else is watching. Since txvegas8ball has problems, too, I wondered if it has anything to do with us Texans! :D

Wow Heidi! I didn't mean for that to be a big issue lol....I thought maybe it was me as well. I went and did all the Live Stream faqs actions that t advised and still poo...Anyway, I know ya'll are workig on it, and it's still better than having to wait for the 10 O'CLOCK news to MAYBE show tornado footage...Keep up the good work everyone! Tammy

No worries mates... I couldn't get didely today as well.. I am just stoked to be checkin emails when the Drummond/Holcomb stream was off the chain a couple of days ago. Good timing like the Kalvesta event last 4-18...

BTW... I have a lot more to post as soon as the time allows... That event alone has demanded so much time with press and such... Woah..

It is just so cool to "just run with it" on the plan in its perfect moment.. That is the way life is... Cheers all..
