Before everyone goes off about their running out of gas, take another glance at the concern on the driver's face.

If any of you were watching this unfold, you know that this was an incredibly explosive situation. All the careful planning goes right out the window when you're suddenly thrust into the chaos.

Having been in a rapidly unfolding grind myself, I personally will reserve the ridicule and be grateful that they're all fine and able to chase again.

Sometimes, things just get away from you.

If you think about it, running out of gas would probably be an easy thing to do. Friday the storms were so explosive and fast moving you are constantly driving focusing on what is going on around you and trying to stay out of the "bear cage". Anyone who makes a silly or negative comment on that doesn't have a clue. That is one of the last things on their mind. There is so much going on inside the Dominator as well as outside. Also if you have ever been to Eastern Kentucky you can go fairly long distances without seeing a gas station. There just isn't much out that way.

I live just north of Cincinnati and we didn't get any severe weather here but boy were the skies wicked. Reminded me very much of April 3, 1974. The clouds were moving extremely fast and you could see all the different layers of shear. The lowest clouds were moving one direction rapidly then just up from there the clouds were moving 90 degrees from the lowest clouds very rapidly. We don't see things around here like that very often.

Looks like he was hoping that he was on the road and not about to slam into something. From the looks of the video I could barely see the hood of the vehicle.

Where were you all chasing in eastern Kentucky?

Look forward to see more videos in the future. Best of luck and stay stay safe!

I'm big follower of your series on Discovery but there is something lacking from your beta web cast. Hopefully to create an emotional attachment to the cast and maybe some production polishing. I'm not trying to be Mr. Know-It-All or give professional advise, I'm just looking it on the viewer side. I want to see your new direction succeed. Be safe. Jason

I live near where all the twisters ripped through Ky and In and the power of these things were insane! So many lives changed forever in our area and I am greatful for what you all are doing with the scientific side of your chases! The loss of life in my area from these storms was horrible and hope you can come up with ways to warn us sooner! Keep up the excellent work guys! Big fan

I also believe that if u are the driver of reed timmer you should definatly not run out of gas chasing a system like the one here. Im sure that i would not allow that to happen specailly when lives could of very well been saved. Not timmers fault sittin in the passenger seat!!! JUST SAYIN!

From Reed's FB (and most likely, twitter):
"Just realized we ran out of gas 5 minutes short of intercepting the Liberty, KS tornado. I really hope that my logistical error didn't prevent us from getting into position to see that tornado touching down... because who knows how the tornado report could have helped. Had no idea the cell we were about to catch was the one that produced the devastating Liberty tornado. "
So, you see, the Captain of the ship (so to type) takes full responsibility after all. :-)

That tornado outbreak was really devastating and sad! Lots of lives lost and lots of homes and businesses blown away! I think and pray for all affected everyday! Reed great chase! That tornado outbreak must of been hard to chase! Also really hard to chase when you ran out of gas! Hope you had a great great great chase Reed! Good Luck for the rest of the season!

Friday 2nd of March was a big outbreak for the month of the March. Joel was saying on Facebook that it would'nt be as bad first predicted. I think it was a big outbreak. Looking at the videos posted by Reed and Skip Talbot it looked dangerous out there with tornadoes touching down everywhere. Our sympathies and best wishes are with all the affected victims and people who have lost loved ones.

Your videos are interesting, though I miss Joel and Chris. Where are they? Don't they drive/film/chase with you anymore?
Not too impressed with Discovery's decision to cancel Storm Chasers though. A bit irresponsible really. Maybe local folks do know about tornados, how and where to take cover, etc. But on any given day there will be plenty of people criss crossing the mid west whose instinct will be to stop and watch. Storm Chasers sounded a word of warning. And why cancel a show with a global following anyway? So the people in L.A. and N.Y. didn't watch it? Is that all that counts these days, whether the main cities on the East and West Coasts watch a show? Thanks anyway, for all the effort the three of you put into the show over the years. I can't say I enjoyed it all - some of it was pretty devastating - but it was a great effort. Stay safe!

Am catching up on the Webisodes. Love it. I love that you're featuring the chasing and not the bs that Discovery contrived. I look forward to longer ones. This was a wonderful improvement over what Discovery production people used to do to your chasing (featuring manufactured interpersonal drama over actual chasing).

Please keep these coming!
