Season Finale of "Storm Chasers" tonight at 10/9 E/P! More Tornado Footage! PDF Print E-mail

The season finale of "Storm Chasers" is tonight at 10 E/P and will feature the tornado outbreak in Nebraska/Kansas on June 20th of this year.  TVN intercepted an EF-2 tornado north of the town of Ravenna, NE (above) and was their best intercept of the year!  Next Thursday, at the same time, the "Behind-The-Scenes" episode will air, giving viewers an inside look at how the show is made, be sure to watch that as well!

Below, is another video of Monday's chase shot by Extreme Tornado Tours' Chad Cowan on Monday's chase; Chad was filming behind D2 and shot some incredible stuff!  This "Tipton, OK" tornado was upgraded to an EF-4 tornado today by the NWS in Norman! Be sure to follow Reed's twitter (@reedtimmerTVN) tonight as he'll be tweeting during the entire episode!  Stay tuned for more of Monday's tornadofest as we'll be showing more videos from that!

It will be back in the fall again most likely if it is renewed!

Stay tuned around here during severe weather outbreaks! There is live streaming on the site so you can follow the chasers live as it happens!

Thanks Janet...advice taken! I sent a message on Discovery's webpage about the "Behind the Scenes" cancellation, and also to encourage them to renew the series next year (and mamy more years).
I'll post their reply, should they send one.

Perhaps it will be included on the DVD release....(fingers crossed)

Wait a couple of months, then check to see if it is still listed on Discovery's list of shows. If its there, it may be back. If disappears from the list, it may have not been renewed. As this is Reed's own site, the news of renewal or not is likely to also be listed here.

I am watching right now! but I don't want it to end! Then I'll have to wait another year until the next season! Hope there is another season! haha.

This season was disappointing to say the least, one of the most active years in US history yet this season of Storm Chasers was riddled with bickering and drama. I find Gold Rush to be the better show on Discovery these days (behind the always entertaining and informative Mythbusters). I think the show missed an opportunity to educate the public on this years historic tornado season, the aftermath and recovery...not to mention the fact that ALL media outlets failed to realize that the April 27th outbreak was more than the Tuscaloosa tornado (it wasn't even the deadliest tornado in my state that day, that went to the EF-5 Hackleburg tornado that claimed 78 lives).

As usual, I enjoyed Storm Chasers this year. I hope and assume there will be a new season in 2012. Perhaps all the guys will get their acts together and do less bickering next year so that they can concentrate on their vital missions. We need more info on these horrible storms. We all must realize, however, that these guys are all cooped up in their vehicles and are in close quarters all day-every day. Keep up the good work, and thanks to the Discovery Channel for bringing us this show.

The reason this season was disappointing was not so much because of the bickering in the teams (there has always been bickering) but of the makers of the programs insistence to show it all on screen. I wonder who's watching the shows for that. It would be better if they concentrate on the tornadoes more instead of switching back and forth a thousand times and showing only small chopped up fragments of the footage.

I would like to see them get back to the science of storm chasing and the science of the storms after all that is what they are out there for.
Come on Discovery teach us the science not the fighting!

I enjoyed this season (yes, I can do without so much bickering) on Discovery and hope that the data TVN collected will be shared and explained on future shows. Keep up the great work, teams.

I think the show may need a new producer, now I can see why they had that guy hold up in the Discovery Channel's office building some time ago because of the poor programming choices (or at least I think that was his claim). I don't understand the trend to make every show on TV dramacentric, I watch shows like Storm Chasers or Mythbusters more for the science and educational purposes, but I feel this season of Storm Chasers was a big let down in the educational & informative stand points. Afterall, shouldn't that be the mission of the teams involved, not just to gather data but also use the show to educate the millions of viewers about the real life dangers the tornadoes they chase present? In one of the most active tornadic years on record, with historic outbreaks hitting populated areas I think the show fumbled the ball, an opportunity was there to not just document the tornadoes themselves but the aftermath and recovery as well.
