Check out this video of a tornado that touched down in Huntsville, AL yesterday.  Warning...there is adult language in this video!  The shooters of the video seemed unaware that the tornado was actually on the ground when the funnel was still aloft, despite clear power flashes under the funnel as it was descending toward the ground.  The structure on this storm is absolutely textbook!  Classic mini-supercell setup yesterday ahead of that cold upper low.  There were also several possible tornadoes reported in the Santa Barbara area, and even near Prescott, AZ, but I have yet to see any photos or videos associated with these reports.  El Nino is causing chaos!

The "I've see a tornado form before" guy has doesn't know seem to know much about tornadoes, despite thinking he knows everything.

I've always wondered why they call it "adult" language when it makes the person spewing it sound so juvenile ...

Good video! Although the link from VegGirl in the first post is a better clip, taken much closer to it. And its a good thing we don't hear language like that on StormChasers!! Reed.... :P

The video shooters also seemed unaware that the F scale has been supplanted by the EF scale. Dorks.

The lightning flashes were quite impressive, I must say. :)

Dear dorks: Thanks for the video and don't be discouraged by what people say here. Apparently they are experts and expect you to be as well.

Janmkenws,

It really depends on which part of TX you're moving to, but if I had to describe it, I would say hot :) I travel to Houston a lot, so if you're moving there, it's hot and humid (and saying that is an understatement) :)

This is interesing to see this tornado from diffrent perspectives! Nice white cast to this due to the way that the sun is hitting it at this time I think it was setting. Very pretty funnel! Here is is the NWS servey http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hun/?n=january2010_severewx

Hey guys!
I live in huntsville alabama.

Thursday while driving home from work I saw this thing lowering and didn't think much of it.
So I drove on past it and went to the house.
As soon as I walked in the door, The tornado sirens went off.
So I tuned into the local weather station, and dammit if the cloud lowering I saw didn't turn into a full fledged TORNADO!
I was soooo pissed!!!!

I went outside and I could see it from a distance. but the view wasnt great. All i could see was the funnel and the power flashes. couldnt see any of the debris flying around at the ground.
It was headed the opposite direction, so i knew i was fine.
But DAMN!!!
If i would have just kept going when i first saw this thing I would have got some great footage.
But I did get to watch it on my local news station.

check it out guys.

This is the whole scenario as it unfolded on dan satterfileds station.
There is a camera on top of a saturn5 rocket at the huntsvill space and rocket center here.
They used the camera to watch the formation of this thing.
THis is some of the best footage caught on this tornado.
check it out
