Supercells with a history of damaging tornadoes are underway over parts of East Texas and Louisiana this evening along and ahead of a strong cold front plowing across the Southern Plains. The image at right shows a 100+ knot gate-to-gate couplet from a tornadic supercell in Natchitoches County, LA at 5:54 pm CST, which was likely producing a large, violent tornado at the time of this image. Damage to homes and large trees down have been reported from tornadoes in Van Zandt and Harrison Counties, TX from a tornadic supercell that has since moved across the Shreveport area into northern Louisiana. It is going to be a long night over East Texas and Louisiana for tornadoes, so stay tuned to local media and be sure to have your weather radio turned on if you live in this region.

We had pea-sized hail here (Longview, Hwy 80 area, near White Oak) and lots of rain, but no damage in our immediate area. Local news reports indicate lots of damage and possible injuries, as well as a possible twin-tornado sighting. I'll be interested to know how many confirmed tornadoes this storm system produced.
In the meantime, I've just listened to THREE SOLID HOURS of my 8 and 6 year old boys begging to know if "this means Reed Timmer is in the area." When I said I didn't think so, my oldest asked if that's "because he already Backed Up." (Wish I was joking.) I really should start screening what they watch on TV, lol. ;)
(On a more serious note, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by this storm system, and the emergency/law/utility officials working tirelessly to help them.)
