blizzard1The winter storm warning has been upgraded to a blizzard warning over extreme northwest Texas through central Oklahoma, as winds are expected to gust over 60 mph with whiteout conditions and EXTREMELY intense snowfall rates!!!!!  This is a very life threatening situation for residents from Wichita Falls, TX to Oklahoma City, and apparently accidents are extremely numerous.  Channel 9 out of OKC is reporting people trapped in their cars in the Walmart parking lot of El Reno, OK, after shopping for less than an hour!  JR Hehnly is about to head west out of Norman and will be streaming live the entire event on TornadoVideos.net/live!  I've been waiting for a storm like this in Norman since 2000 and I'm not there to see it!  I'm seriously about to go off the deep end watching this from afar!

Oklahoma Department of Transportation has closed I-44/H.E. Bailey turnpike from Newcastle all the way to the texas boarder, sending in national guard vehicles to rescue stranded drivers. I-40 west of Oklahoma City is closed between Yukon and El Reno for a wreck involving up to 25 vehicles. I-35 is closed south of Norman due to a jack-knifed semi. Jeez, you'd think this was canada or something with the snow and wind.

On the other side of this the SPC has issued a moderate risk!!! The shear at the low levels is incredible! But the lack of instability will limit the tornado threat. this is a huge storm system AAAAAAAAAAAAA
