Dec 12 2009 15:55:04 Lake effect snow, anyone??
Imagine spending an entire night stuck in your vehicle. Weeee! Thank God for ATVs and snowmobiles and the like. This article is brief, but has a simple diagram of what/how lake effect snow is produced. thestormreport.com/2009/12/lake-effect-s...torists-in-new-york/ |

Re:Incredible lake effect event and blizzard pounding the Great Lakes!
Dec 13 2009 02:57:40 Lake effect snow is crazy. If you are outside of the snow bands, you might not get any snow but if you are in one of the bands, you can get dumped on. I sorta remember with the blizzard of 78 (now that was a real blizzard!) they only predicted an inch or two of snow but we got hit by the Lake Effect and the next day we could not even open the front door because a drift completely covered it. We were snowed in for about 2 weeks. One drift covered the whole side of the house. The men on our street got together and walked a couple miles in the snow to get groceries and supplies because after several days of being snowed in, we needed stuff. I have not seen a storm like that since but I know it can happen. I also would like to know how the Lake affects the weather in Michigan in the Spring and Summer.

Or does it?? Does or has this lake effect produced tornadoes??
Please note: although no board code and smiley buttons are shown, they are still usable.
