Given that right now is spring in the Southern Hemisphere, we are currently in the midst of the Argentina-Brazil tornado season, which will continue through about February. As posted earlier, there have already been several tornado outbreaks down there already, and El Nino is only intensifying the South American tornado season. Our plan is to head down to Argentina in late December into January for a few weeks, and see if we can pull off some successful storm chases down there. We'll be uploading our videos to TVN immediately after the chases, and will even try to stream some live video...So stay tuned for updates! In the meantime, here are some new South American tornado videos I found this morning because of my need for some tornado action during the off-season. Notice how the clear-slot/RFD in these videos cuts into the meso from right to left before wrapping around the tornado cyclone in a clockwise direction. This could get confusing!

Argentina-Brazil Tornadoes! TVN to deploy in the Southern Hemisphere...
Nov 05 2009 02:38:29 Great news Reed!
Here a video of the other one in Idaiatuba (São Paulo), Brazil. This tornado was classified as an EF-3 and it struck that city on April, 24 2005. Its damage estimates was approached $ 30 milions dollars. I've searched out for that video, but I didn't find it. Then you can see it by visiting my profile "LucianoBrazil profile page" on section "My Videos" at tornadovideos.net |

Nov 06 2009 00:05:17 The videos from SA are great. All we needed was someone on Spanish or Portugese yelling "Back Up!"

Re:Argentina-Brazil Tornadoes! TVN to deploy in the Southern Hemisphere...
Nov 06 2009 00:25:25 Hey Reed, there are some rumors that this year is going to be THE year, that we are going to have extreme storms in december/januaniry, is anything related to what you said in your post about El Niño getting stronger? Because i heard before that it should be already getting smaller, but we are haveing severe storms every week here since september, in september it rained 80% more than the media.
and for you: " Pra tras! " |

I 'm from Argentina and I'm very excited of the idea of you to come here!!!
I cant believe it!!!!
We have just had Supercell situations with possibles torandoes touchdown.
here a video of one of the tornadoes in Bragado,Buenos Aires: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bynE6nsSklE
Lisandro,from buenos Aires-Argentina.
I think it's important for the area have storm chasers for close, even for the own safety!
I'm live in Santa Catarina(SC), Brazil, We have a lot of storms here! But we don't have resources for the coverage, who knows with storm chasers here that doesn't get better!
If you need a guide or something like that.. I am free!
That'd be a nice remedy to those Winter blues up here.
so instead of BACK-UP! BACK-UP! will you do FORWARD ! FORWARD ! ???
Well this oughta be a fun new chapter for TVN.
Me encanta que vengan de visita por nuestra zona.
Tengo un blog http://bcpsalto.blogspot.com/ de Meteorología Con información sobre tornados y tormentas en la Región.

The same caused the deaths of an elderly person, as also muchisimos damage.
I heard from a friend that you would come in late December or January and stay for a week in Argentina, therefore, invite you to Uruguay (a few miles north of Buenos Aires) to discuss their experience and knowledge of the subject .
I hope to find merit in the proposal.
